Five Minutes with Molly Sims

By Susan Kirschbaum

Molly Sims seems as American as apple pie. Born in Murray, Kentucky, she attended Vanderbilt University with hopes of becoming a lawyer before dropping out to try modeling, landing a role as a spokesperson for Old Navy. She then became a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and got to rock an all-diamond bikini, and transitioned to the small screen landing a role as Delinda Deline on the NBC drama Las Vegas. How’s that for the American dream? We caught up with Molly and got her to sum up her style.

Who is your favorite designer, hands down?
I like Alice Temperley a lot. Her clothes are very feminine and wearable. And when you are going to events where you don’t want to wear a gown, you can feel dressed up [in her clothes]. She has a great line of cocktail and evening dresses. They’re beautiful. Her color palette is always great.

How do you describe your own personal style?
Feminine; kind of chic, but a little bohemian too; a little classic—a little bit of everything. It always changes.

Who are some of your other top designers?
I think BCBG Max Azria is absolutely stunning. I also like Phillip Lim.

If you could bring back one era of fashion, what would it be?
I think we already brought it back with the eighties and the tights. I love them and I hope they never go away.
