Should you actually find a cab between runway shows, how do you gracefully climb out in front of a sea of photographers? Well, there is a technique to it.
It doesn’t matter if you’re famous or not—at fashion week, everyone is hungry for an image. A girl falling flat on her face? Snapping a heel? Exposing herself? Not a good look. The best entrance is made without an event.
Before your arrival, reach for a mint or gum. Breath must be fresh for all those air kisses. Next, grab a mirror and check hair/makeup before you near your destination. Prior to your exit, gather your belongings and slide your body to the door nearest the curbside. Open the door. Twist, keep legs together for goodness sake, and slide one leg out. The other leg should follow quickly. Keep bag over your waist to protect your modesty while you step out of the cab. Stand. Use one hand to smooth coat/jacket behind as well as to make that final push out of the seat. Ensure no clothing is caught in door or worse, your underwear. Quickly pull it into place. Turn to close cab door and smooth front of look in this instant away from camera/public glare. Check yourself in window reflection. Lift your head high. Step forward. Smile.
Note: This is infinitely harder when there’s torrential rain and someone is pushing you aside to nick your cab.
