Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry had a date with Hannelore Knuts on Friday in preparation for the CFDA Awards and brought Modelinia along to film their fitting adventures!
When I called Hannelore to request her company as my date for the CFDA Awards, she was just arriving back to the States from a fashion shoot abroad: “Let me call you right back. I am trying to find my car, but I know what you’re going to ask me and I know I am going to say yes.” So the only reason for the follow-up call was to explain what the CFDA Awards actually are and what it means to be nominated.
This being my third-consecutive nomination, I know how important it is to have a great date on your arm, both beautiful and fun. That’s why I immediately thought of Hannelore! After all, when we met during Fashion Week in February, we quickly bypassed formalities as we ended up sharing tacos at 4 a.m. in the LES after a night of ice-skating and party hopping. She even helped me scour the filthy floors of a Tribeca loft party looking for a lost charm that danced its way off a necklace. That is when I realized she was the perfect muse for Subversive: Knee-deep in beer and dirt, she was still the most captivating person in the room.
Naturally, when Hannelore came over to fit the jewelry, it was a very casual affair. You can trust a model that has been in the business as long as Hannelore what dress will look best. She chose a look that Azzadine Alaïa sent her based on photos of the jewelry we had already selected (a smoke floral-wreath composition from my Couture collection layered over a coil bib I have been developing for Spring 2010). I also added some signature bracelets to her wrist to create a unity in both of our looks! Ready for the red carpet!
