A Gold Statue of Kate Moss Sells for $900K

We admit we’ve torn out our fair share of Kate Moss editorials to hang as art on our walls, but this solid gold statue brings our Kate Moss obsession to a whole new level. Created in 2008 by the artist, Marc Quinn, this statue, otherwise known as “Siren,” sold for over $900,000 at a Sotheby’s auction yesterday. The statue depicts Kate in a contorted yoga pose and consists of 10 kilograms of 18-karat gold making it the heaviest gold statue made by man since ancient Egypt.

Before it went up for auction, “Siren” was on exhibit at the British Museum among ancient Greek statues of gods and goddesses.  As to whom owns it now is unbeknownst to us, but we can only imagine that he or she is as much a fan of the supermodel as we are over here at Modelinia.
