The energy buzzing around Lincoln Center now is palpable and exhilarating and subsequently, it has been our life blood this week. So when we heard we were traveling offsite to the New York Public Library for the Ports 1961 show, we were intrigued but slightly apprehensive.

Any and all resistance faded fast the moment we walked into the Library’s Celeste Bartos Atrium, a domed glass space with super saturated white walls and light bouncing from every curve – the perfect canvas for a spring collection, especially one shown on our favorite established and up and coming models.

The location was even more apropos when we saw Julia Frauche start the show in an orange two-fold plisee with open draping, a piece that celebrated geometry and architecture but also lightness and fluidity. The collection carried on with more top models, including Daga Ziober in a peach jersey sleeveless turtleneck, Sara Blomqvist in a neon orange knit suit,  Siri Tollerød in a dove linen ¾ top with dove knot with rouched leggings, Juju Ivanyuk in an orange two-fold plisee short dress, Kinga Rajzak in a flower print plisee silk with organza detail, and Ming Xi in a grey heavy stretch satin cotton sleeveless vest and pants.

Josephine Skriver closed the show in a white segmented long dress with organza and an embroidered burnout triangle and with the final turn of her heel, we felt cohesion resonate throughout the atrium. It was a transient movement from white to black to color punctuated by changing shapes and patterns; we felt like we had just taken a turn inside of a kaleidoscope. Design aside, it was the models that showed us the light – props to Ports for a roster of amazing girls with the range to bring such a dynamic show to life. ~Ariel Nathanson
