Irina Shabayeva’s show yesterday at the SIR Stage on West 37th Street was too gorgeous for words! I was so thrilled to walk for her and am constantly in awe of her talent. Irina and I were the winning designer/model team on Project Runway, and it’s such a pleasure to continue working with her as she continues to gain success and praise for her outstanding creations.
Inspired by “Flight,” the collection was ethereal yet strong and incorporated everything from feathers and gorgeous hand-painted coats to luxurious furs and knits. Irina is known for her clean silhouettes and attention to detail, and truly every aspect of her collection was flawless. Irina even included plastic in five of her designs since Tupperware was one of the sponsors!
Irina is excellent at making a woman’s body look fabulous, and every model looked perfect from head to toe. It was fun to hear many of the models backstage talking about how Irina’s collection was their favorite, and gushing about how gorgeous their outfits were. On the runway, I couldn’t help but hear “oohs” and “ahhs” from the excited and impressive crowd that topped 750 people. The energy was fantastic.
After the show, models lined up on the runway so guests could get a close-up view of the stunning pieces while sipping on cocktails and sampling hors d’oeuvres. After snapping a picture on the red carpet, attendees left the event with signature “Irina” tote bags that included fun Tupperware and BeautiControl products.
It was a great evening, and I can’t wait to see Irina’s career absolutely skyrocket after her phenomenal show!
