The girls were in the house at Doo.Ri as fashion folk schlepped over to the Eyebeam Gallery to see the designer’s latest collection, which skillfully balanced her signature draping with structure and a military tinge. Established models like Daiane Conterato and the ever elegant Georgina Stojilkovic took their turns alongside a who’s who of the much buzzed about. Imogen Morris Clarke, Katie Fogarty, Rose Cordero, and Shu Pei Qin worked it wonderfully, but the most exciting moment came when rising star Mathilde Frachon closed the show. Wanting to know more about our burgeoning model crush, we caught up with Mathilde backstage to pose a few basic questions—and to hear that lovely French accent.
Hi, Mathilde! What do you like most about Doo.Ri?
This is actually the first time I’m doing the show, but I’m very happy to do it. I just love the clothes—they’re very comfortable, very different, very chic.
How about your personal style?
It’s very Parisian, you know! I don’t wear heels a lot—I prefer black boots. But I’m always wearing a lot of shorts. And French designers.
And just for fun, what’s on your iPod right now?
Empire of the Sun, Rihanna, Lady Gaga… Really, I love each kind of music. I love rock, I love hip-hop, everything.
Trés bien. ~ Tim Mitchell
