Speculation about the cover of Vogue’s May issue celebrating the annual Costume Institute gala, which this year is titled, “Model as Muse”, has been underway for a long time. While the questions of who is going with whom, and just which models will be in attendance, are still in question, one thing is certain: It will be huge. The Met has already created a coffee table book to celebrate the occasion, titled The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion by Harold Koda the Curator in Charge at The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s still in pre-order, but it promises to explore the relationship between fashion and the models who’ve graced the pages of magazines and walked the runway, from the early 20th century to today. It’s probably a good idea to place your order now.
