Each season Rodarte seems to get lighter and lighter, and this season the Mulleavy sisters added a touch of artful romance to their polished collection. Van Gogh inspired sunflower prints, bright turquoise blues and pops of orange and purple dominated the collection that can best be described as modern with a romantic twist.
While easily one of the most feminine and wearable Rodarte collections to-date, we still can’t get over watching Caroline Trentini walk in the show. An unexpected but welcome surprise, it’s rare to see Caroline on the runway at New York Fashion Week and we couldn’t be happier to see her walk in such a groundbreaking show. Joan Smalls, Lindsey Wixson, Jourdan Dunn, Lui Wen and Karlie Kloss also walked the runway in an array of colorful garments and jet-black raccoon eye make-up - perhaps the only dark component of the collection.
There was certainly a playful element to the line as well. The models’ hair had a light wave to it, with the front section pinned to the right and back, and twirly party dresses and skirts were in full swing. With only the most elite crowd in the front row (i.e. Beyonce and Anna Wintour), we’re curious to see where these eccentric and artistic pieces wind up in the months to come. Until then, we’ll focus on Caroline looking ravishing in the flowy dress made up of next season’s must have sunshine hue.
