A Tale of Dior and Chanel Couture

Couture moments are in full swing as Paris has officially been taken over by models and breathtaking designs.

Dior Couture Spring 2011

John Galliano brought out his usual dramatic antics in the form of deep red hues and Karlie Kloss‘ now iconic runway strut, but this season, he added a new face to the house’s favorites, as Martha Streck walked exclusively for Christian Dior. A rotating set hosted Angela LindvallKarolina KurkovaIekeliene StangeMagdalena Frackowiak, and couture queen Georgina Stojiljkovic, infusing ’50s inspiration with feathers, masquerade masks, and tulle as an homage to illustrator René Gruau.

With his former muse, Inès de la Fressange in the front row, Karl Lagerfeld debuted the Spring 2011 Couture collection for Chanel. The opening moment went to Stella Tennant while Bianca Balti made an appearance alongside Chanel regulars like Abbey Lee Kershaw and Freja Beha Erichsen. Sequined pants, requisite tweed coats, tickled fashion’s fancy, but we were especially excited to see Suzie Bird make her Chanel debut. To end on a note of perfection, Karl chose Kristen McMenamy as the couture bride, but her finale moment held a very special memory, as she wore Chanel to her own wedding, where Karl gave her away!
