When it comes to movie choices for model turned actresses, it’s looking as though high action, fantasy adventure films are the favorites. Agyness Deyn and Natalia Vodianova each turned on their acting skills for roles in Clash of the Titans, and now the newest Pirates of the Caribbean film, On Stranger Tides, has its very own model as well.
Astrid Berges-Frisbey’s face is currently all over cities, billboards, and magazines thanks to her current campaign with French Connection, and she has these exact posters to thank for her latest foray into the film world. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer saw the campaign, fell in love, and requested that she try out for the fourth swashbuckling film. To no one’s surprise, she snagged the role of Syrena the Mermaid, the beautiful love interest of Johnny Depp. Acting isn’t exactly new to her, but this will be her very first English speaking role. It’s like an extension of that old saying - right place, right time.
