At the start of the summer, we wouldn’t have believed that the 2012 Olympics would actually be a cause for fashion industry excitement, but with Fashion Week regulars taking over everything from athletic uniforms and pop-up shops, to the Closing Ceremony itself, the London Games are shaping up to be one of the most stylish events of the year! In fact, it seems that the Brits are planning to promote their high-profile fashion connections all the way up to the final Olympic flag handover to Brazil’s Olympic committee in the culminating event. In recent reports, it has been confirmed that Victoria Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio will be in attendance at the Closing Ceremony, serving as a representative for the Rio 2016 Games as Brazil is presented with the flag.
At the official 2012 Flag Handover site, the upcoming ceremony has already been described as “the most visible celebration of Brazilian culture in London’s history.”
As of yet, few details have been released about the model’s Olympic appearance along with her role in the future Olympics games, however, the event is said to spotlight traditional samba dancing and Brazilian music.
With Alessandra now joining fellow superstars Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Georgia May Jagger in the Closing Ceremony, we’re now officially in full-on Olympian mode!
