As we walked into the main backstage area, pink overtook the space, including the newly designed robes (pink with light pink stripes) while little white twinkle lights were draped above. Scoping out the details, we can tell you there were hair extensions galore, Essie is the nail polish of choice (in Starter Wife and Sugar Daddy), and Heidi’s new makeup line was covering the tables.

While some girls were in hair, others were in the middle of sparkly eye makeup application. Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr held it down on the black couches, chatting, and Alessandra Ambrosio arrived wearing a black sequined long-sleeved dress, immediately taking a picture with Miranda and settling down on the couch. Selita Ebanks strutted in her leopard Christian Louboutin shoes and contemplated her new pose at the end of the runway, humming “Boom Boom Pow” to herself. Since she’s mastered the runway, she shared her advice for the new girls: “Just lose all your inhibitions. Just go out there and know that you are fierce. Actually, Tyra gave me that advice my first show. She said when you’re on the runway you’re by yourself, you’re fierce, just work it.”
One girl who’s planning on working it is Abbey Lee Kershaw. “I’ve got wings this year!” she exclaimed. “And they’re incredible. I look like a bird. They’re made of peacock feathers. It’s so cool! I watched the National Geographic channel on the bird to prepare,” she joked. “I’ve never had wings before so I don’t know how to work them, so I looked on the Internet of girls who had wings to see how you move with them.”
Eniko Mihalik, a first-timer, admitted that she’s been practicing her fierceness. “It’s funny because I actually did practice! Usually I don’t do things like this. I looked at videos and at one point I said, ‘I can’t do this!’ I was in the bathroom, like, Okay, kiss here, kiss there, little wave. I even got red in front of myself!”
Lyndsey Scott, yet another newbie, got her beauty sleep last night. The first person she shared her great news with was her father. “He said congratulations, but I think he was a little bit nervous to see his daughter in lingerie! He’s called a couple of times since, just letting me know that he’s excited about it.” And while Lyndsey was all about the preshow rest, Caroline Trentini relished in the fact that being backstage was such a chill affair. “I love the whole idea. It’s such a good vibe. I’m so used to doing like eight shows a day. But here you get to really enjoy the whole backstage since we’re here for so many hours. Even though the show is like 10 minutes, it’s a great mood. I know all the girls, the whole production. All the girls that I work with all the time are here.”

Downstairs, as we left we bumped into the most precious puppy, named Steve who is only eight weeks old. Miranda walked by, immediately did a double take, and dropped to her knees in order to pick up the adorable dog.
