An All-Asian Cast at Daniel Vosovic's Presentation

At Daniel Vosovic’s presentation at Exit Art this afternoon, the Project Runway alum showed his Fall 2010 collection on an all-Asian cast. It was a medley of sleek looks, with a signature splatter paint take on tie-dye peppered throughout. Epaulets donned sweaters and short-sleeve blazers, lapels got an updated cut, and the hems on a few of the dresses’ shapes were reminiscent of a samurai warrior’s armor.

His model choice calls to mind Sophie Theallet’s Spring 2009 debut, as the designer decided to show on an all-black model lineup. This paired with Liu Wen’s history-making moment on the Victoria’s Secret 2009 runway and it seems like fashion’s making serious strides in becoming an equal opportunity employer. One thing’s for sure: The two sure know how to make a statement, and, just like Sophie’s, this was definitely a collection to get excited about. ~ Jessica Mahler
