An Evening of Metallic Inspirations

Artists, fashion insiders, and celebrities alike made their way up to Columbus Circle on Monday night for the Museum of Art and Design’s Metalball, to celebrate MAD’s 2nd anniversary, benefiting the children’s education programs at the museum. Among the brilliant metallic inspired outfits, we spotted model cohost Hannelore Knuts in a gorgeous Alaia dress, paired with a Christian Joy jacket which was on auction that evening, and a clutch of her own design for Delvaux, holding court with friends and reveling in her host duties. “I really like to help charity causes - health, education,” said Hannelore of her involvement with MAD. “I think this a really good one because it must be very tough as a student to make art.”

While artists including David Victor Rose, Richard Meier, and Ryder Robison brought the theme of metal to their creations, Hannelore and Christian collaborated on a video project collaboration, featuring the model as a metal wielding superstar. “We set the standards high because we had never done a video, so we learned while doing it. If you want to do somethign and you have the energy and the passion - just do it. My friend and I just want to grab every opportunity we can to make things, so it’s just fun!”

With wide ranging views of upper Manhattan, partygoers enjoyed an artistic look at the evening in many forms: from the skyline to the installations at MAD to the metal inspired pieces, and last but in no way least, the ever thrilling metallic translation for reveler’s evening attire.
