Gilles Mendel may classify his Fall/Winter collection as laid back, but his model line-up was far from being so. Allow us to exhaust you with a list of fashion week’s favorite models, all of whom walked the J. Mendel show on Tuesday in Lincoln Center. Arizona Muse, Bo Don, Kasia Struss, Lisanne de Jong, Liu Wen, Sigrid Agren, Siri Tollerød, Jacquelyn Jablonski, and Zuzanna Bijoch all showcased one of Gilles Mendel’s best collections yet.
Inspired by tribal body art and the architectural work of Jean Prouvé, Mendel featured a collection of intricately beaded, body hugging dresses and heavily draped fur coats. The collection definitely had more of an evening wear feel, which we had no qualms about as there’s nothing like seeing some of our favorite models dressed in beautifully designed evening gowns. Although it was Zuzanna Bijoch who closed the show wearing a black embroidered silk tulle dress, Jacquelyn Jablonski came out at the very end, hand-in-hand with Gilles Mendel. Dressed in a beaded, coppery pink floor-length dress, Jacquelyn was all smiles as she took a modest bow with the designer.
