This morning marked the official start to the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week shows, as fashion insiders ascended the steps at Lincoln Center Plaza to catch the first of this season’s shows. BCBG Max Azria opened the day with a revved up collection inspired by the femme fatale allure behind Helmut Newton’s iconic photography. Max and Lubov Azria showed a sophisticated black and white collection that juxtaposed a soft, elongated silhouette with seductive harness details. The light weight dresses and menswear-inspired canvas jackets and blazers stuck to a neutral palate that was given added interest with pops of dusty pinks, pale greys, and graphic cutouts. The sultry mix of lace and leather left a major impression on the packed house of A-listers, matching perfectly with the bold corset details and silk prints.
Marching to the sound of Blondie’s infamous “Heart of Glass” track, the BCBG crew managed to cast another mind-blowing cast of top models this season. The show was opened by fresh face Marine Deleeuz (Ford Models), who gained our seal of approval with her bandaged-up dress and ferocious gaze. The up and coming model was followed by an equally stunning lineup including Ruby Aldridge, Katryn Kruger, Kate King, Sara Blomqvist, Julia Nobis, and Kati Nescher.
The front row didn’t disappoint either! Along with blogger superstars Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller, Bryan Boy, gold-medal track and field star Sanya Richards-Ross, Modelinia favorites Selita Ebanks and Jessica Hart made a special appearance. Selita stood out in a sea of neutrals in a bright, graphic print body-con dress, while looking cute and playful in oversized shades, a side pony, and cobalt blue bag.
And to think this was just the beginning.
