What could be a more perfect birthday for Fernanda Motta than inviting her closest friends to the reopening of her restaurant, Le 55? Based on her smiles and the constant picture taking, it was an ideal evening.
Thursday night Alessandra Ambrosio, fresh from the Girl Talk concert, hosted the intimate dinner party for her fellow supermodel, presenting Fernanda with a blue and gold bracelet made by the same designer that created the necklace she wears with her daughter Anja’s name on it.
“She’s one of my best friends!” exclaimed Alessandra. “One of my favorite memories is when she and I were in Aspen shooting for Victoria’s Secret lingerie. We just had a good time by the pool with the snow around. We’re like two minutes away in Florianopolis, so we just hang out all the time!”
As guests including Lorenzo Martone and Julie Henderson toasted the birthday girl with hugs and presents, Fernanda was beaming, saying, “I don’t really care about material things, to be honest. Like this for example, just to be with all my friends. I think my best birthday present is when my husband is with me and I wake up in the morning and he’s there.”
The birthday girl relished in the evening, contemplating more birthday plans in the Hamptons over the weekend. Soon she’ll be off to Portugal for work, and Alessandra will be heading to the beach. “I’m going to the Caribbean to shoot for Victoria’s Secret swimsuit, so I’m taking my daughter and spending two weeks there. Then we’re going to Bali, and it’s my daughter’s first birthday so I’ll throw a big party in Bali for her with all my friends. Bali is one of my favorite places on earth, so anything can happen.”
Toward the end of the night, a huge five-tiered cake was brought out, which was so big it took three chefs to carry. Fernanda and Alessandra stole bits of frosting, blowing out the cake while guests sang “Happy Birthday.” Afterward the party moved downstairs to the club, Bijoux, for dancing, birthday wishes, and more celebratory Champagne.
