The Standard Hotel turned into Miami circa 1985 last night, as Calvin Klein Collection hosted the launch party for the limited-edition Visionaire 56 book. With a dress code of white and sunglasses as a party favor, New York fashion insiders quickly took on the Miami Vice theme. The reason behind the enforced dress code? The collector’s edition is titled Solar, and yes, it does have solar powers. When exposed to light, the book turns bright shades of color. Wouldn’t want to take away from the UV light-induced hues from the event, of course.
It wouldn’t be a Visionaire party without models. Countless girls turned out, including Alana Zimmer, Alek Wek, Ali Stephens, Arlenis Sosa, Behati Prinsloo, Doutzen Kroes, Hana Soukupova, Harley Viera Newton, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Heather Marks, Iris Strubegger, Kasia Struss, Katrin Thormann, Rose Cordero, Shannan Click, Tyra Banks, (who JD Ferguson obsessed over), and Valentina Zelyaeva.
And though the inside of the party was bright and sunny, outside was a touch cold, so guests warmed up in silver Mylar blankets to stay warm on the terrace to view the Visionaire book. Luckily it’s past Memorial Day, so bright whites were out in full force without shame for the age-old rule.
