Iman and Annie Leibovitz, Dree Hemingway
The Met just honored “The Model as Muse,” the International Center of Photography is honoring the great Richard Avedon with an exhibition of his work, and at last night’s 25th Annual Infinity Awards the appreciation continued. Over a dinner at Chelsea Piers, guests, including models Iman and Dree Hemingway, as well as designers Mark Badgley, James Mischka, Brian Reyes, and Gilles Mendel, celebrated a few other iconic photographer’s accomplishments.
Gloria Steinem presented Annie Leibovitz with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her talent. “I thought, Wait a minute, I’m too young [to receive this award],” Annie said. “But photography is not something you retire from.” During her acceptance speech, she took the time to thank her colleagues, from magazine editors to photo editors and art directors.
But the awards didn’t stop there. Tim Walker was also honored with the Applied/Fashion/Advertising Photography, recognizing his experience capturing models such as Lisa Cant, Jacquetta Wheeler, and Lily Cole. What better a time than during our History of Models to celebrate such players in the industry.
