CFDA Adventures with Molly Sims

Before her arrival on the red carpet at the 2010 CFDA Awards, Molly Sims had a major adventure with Diane von Furstenberg. It all began with a dress fitting that included three different options: a long turquoise Delhay gown, a velvet burn out gown in midnight blue, and a black beaded wrap from the Resort 2010 collection. Ultimately, Molly decided on the beaded black wrap dress, accentuated with Grayce by Molly Sims gems and sparkly Christian Louboutin shoes. After a quick trip through Diane’s personal archives (and her stunning apartment) Molly’s wrist was decorated with an H.Stern bracelet from DvF’s personal collection! Read on as Molly recounts her evening at the CFDAs for Modelinia.

Last night, I attended the 2010 CFDA awards and was lucky enough to wear an amazing dress by the president of the CFDAs, Diane von Furstenberg. Before I even got into the awards, it was so funny to watch people pose on the red carpet. It’s a pet peeve of mine. It’s like, ‘Okay, move along people.’ Once inside, I mingled with everybody! Sarah Jessica Parker was in the house looking phenomenal. I loved her hair, as well as the fact that she did a little Grayce style modeling with her accessories, mixing bangles and everything. During the cocktail party, I ran into Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and was telling them how much I love their clothes, and they were like, ‘You’re obsessed,’ and I said, ‘I know, I’m your first order!’

The fashion choices of the night were amazing: Jessica Biel looked insane! She’s probably the prettiest creature out there. I’m dying to know who her earrings are by. Can we find out? Because I really love them. Rachel Zoe and I were matching in sparkly numbers, and she looked incredible. I’m so excited because she’s going to help me get my little white dress for my boat trip to Italy!

For the awards part of the evening, I sat next to Gilles Bensimon. The tribute to Alexander McQueen was really too sad for words. He was a true creative genius that was loved and will be missed by all. As for the winners, I was so happy for the Rag and Bone boys – David and Michael are good friends, and their designs are awesome! Doutzen Kroes presented the Popular Award and I fell in love with her! She’s my new favorite model; so hot, and so beautiful.

Afterwards there were two events: one at the Boom Boom Room and a Burberry one at Kenmare. I went to the Burberry party - I love Christopher Bailey. We kind of left early from the awards and so when we arrived, we sat at the bar. Note to self – never sit at the bar. I haven’t sat at a bar in a long time and there’s some strange people out there. I will tell you I’ve never seen a group of fashion people clobber down appetizers in your entire life; everybody was really hungry!
