Thursday night, Los Angeles and New York were joined, as CARE screened “A Powerful Noise” across 450 theatres, and then brought together a panel discussion in New York with an event in LA. Christy Turlington, CARE’s Advocate for Maternal Health sat on the panel, which was moderated by Ann Curry. The model turned mogul became very attached to the organization, after learning that half a million women die each year, but 90 percent of the deaths were preventable. She spoke last night about the need to empower women, build a global community and bring education to those in need, which will provide better decisions regarding health and protection.
The film focuses on the lives of three women from Mali, Vietnam, and Bosnia, to show their struggle in attempting to bring power to the women in their communities. Read more about the film here. ~As reported by Maggie Wachsberger, of the store Malgosia, a favorite of models
