Coco Rocha Paints The Town Red!

For her past few red carpet appearances, Coco Rocha has been pretty in pink- exploring the perennial shade in everything from pops of neon to soft ballerina hues.  At the 6th annual DKMS Linked Against Blood Cancer Gala in April, Coco looked candy-sweet in a Jason Wu peplum skirt.  For May’s Met Gala, she matched a daring vintage Givenchy yellow pant suit and electric pink top to her dip-dyed tresses.  A month later, she looked preppy in a saccharine Fendi dress at the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, rounding out her three month span of memorable pink moments.

With spring now over, and July just around the corner though, Coco may have a different color palette in mind for the ensuing months.  If last night’s red carpet sighting was any indication for the model’s future style choices, it seems that red just may be the color of choice.   At last night’s “People Like Us” premiere Coco stepped out in a sleeveless white tuxedo Rag & Bone top and a pair of bright, fire engine-red trousers by White House Black Market. In the photo Coco tweeted showing off her event outfit, the model described the movie as “very sweet, heartwarming,” adjectives that could just as easily be assigned to her own style.

What we love most about this look though is how easy it is to recreate with the staple pieces already hanging in our closets.  By mixing high and low priced pieces, Coco proves that you don’t need a stylist and superstar closet to pull off a model-approved look.  So, for that upcoming cocktail party or weekend soiree, take a note from Coco and pair a crisp, borrowed from the boys blouse with lady-like details-here an elegant contrasting neck tie- with some breezy, red-saturated trousers.  Throw on some heels in a neutral tone, and a swipe of sheer strawberry lip color, and you’ve got a Coco-worthy look sans the high-end price tag!
