Cynthia Rowley Goes Retro for Spring

Image from: style.com

Mixing bold stripes with circular cutouts and embellishments, Cynthia Rowley’s spring 2011 collection was a refreshing combination of modern silhouettes mixed with a retro 1960s theme, reminiscent of model icon/swinging 60’s it-girl, Twiggy. Given the matching signature deep side-parted, slicked back hair, and drawn on eyelashes, we were surprised to see that the 60s icon didn’t take the runway herself! Those who did walk the runway, however, were Chantal Stafford-Abbott and Katharina Friedrich, who wore each of their colorful looks as if they had grabbed them right out of their closet. All in all, despite the hectic door, it was a collection we were glad we witnessed. ~ Sonia Evers
