The Park Avenue Armory was full of models; both in the audience and on the runway yesterday at Theyskens’ Theory. Up front we found Doutzen Kroes in an edgy all black ensemble totally fit for the collection that would soon be making its way down the dimly lit catwalk. As she stood and posed for pictures, we ducked behind the black curtains to get a glimpse at the scene backstage, which was the usual blowdryer, makeup brush frenzy. After a quick glance around the room we spotted one of our favorites, Shu Pei, sitting in a makeup chair. Though she’s walked in an inordinate amount of shows this season, she looked refreshed and lively while getting ready for yet another runway. “My favorite thing about fashion week is being able to see all the collections first hand,” she said. “Even though my style is very simple, I love being able to see what the designers put together.”
For his fall 2012 collection, Olivier Theyskens put together a quintessentially urban chic runway of slim fit blazers, billowy rock crystal print skirts, and sky scraper shoes with a golden heel. Though the models had a bit of a hard time stomping down the catwalk in the stilettos, they seemed to catch the eye of Doutzen in the front row, so it’s only a matter of time before we see that blue eyed beauty wearing them.
