When the intense glitter eye make-up was set, the ladies walking in the Vena Cava Fall 2011 show at MILK Studios were as fresh and wide-eyed as they could be about the first day of New York Fashion Week. And though they will be dressed in dozens of outfits before the week is over, this is the collection they would love to get a piece of.

Ford’s Alexandra Tretter (who is more familiar with her walks down the Christian Dior couture runway in Paris) couldn’t wait to model pieces that fit her personal style profile. “I love the long skirt that I am wearing in the show. It’s just what I like,” said the German model of the black matte jersey skirt that she walked in. Later that day, Tretter was making her way to Pier 59 for the Rachel Comey’s show—fully rounding out her day on the runway wearing pieces way more alternative than she is used to.

Who better to model the black rayon crepe strappy bodice with electric blue silk palazzo pant than Misha Parkosz who poses for all of Vena Cava’s look books? Though she certainly knows her way around this collection, New York is newer to her, as this is her first Fashion Week in the city! The 21-year-old Polish model had her schedule and a map close by since she had to run over to Industria to walk in the Jenni Kayne show the second she got off the runway, and then quickly over to Mara Hoffman at Lincoln Center. Misha had a hard time narrowing down which pieces she likes best from this collection, but settled on a pair of crepe de chine palazzo’s. “I love the really long pants, because of the really delicate materials they are made out of,” she said.

Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, the designers behind the line certainly brought back the ’90s for this collection and the Veruca Salt “Seether” and Breeders “Cannonball” tunes that played during the show really helped the ladies to embrace their inner grunge girl. Other beauties getting the eye glitter treatment from the make up team at MAC, and decked out in jewelry by DANNIJO included Luisa Bianchin from DNA, Aminata Niaria from IMG, along with show opener Renee from Trump, who set the tone of this rock show working the black and white Xerox print gown. ~ Renee Lucas
