“We look for girls who can stand well and walk well,” the laconic Elie Tahari said of his casting process backstage before the show, and judging by the lineup of no-frills models, the designer found exactly what he wanted.
This season, Mr. Tahari combined his women’s and men’s collections in one presentation, a show that ran several times as guests circulated in and out to see the clothes, which were inspired by Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express. Kinée Diouf and Edythe Hughes cruised down the runway in chic separates before top male models like Garrett Neff and A.J. Abualrub took their turns in smart fitted suits and wool jackets. Though not your traditional catwalk experience, we imagine the pace and economy of it all was perfect for Elie’s choice clientele. ~ Tim Mitchell
