Erin Extolls the Virtues of Theatrical Couture Delights!

When Jean Paul Gaultier asks you to return to the runway, you can hardly say no, right?

Exactly.

Erin O’Connor broke a year long absence from the catwalk when she stepped onto the designer’s Fall 2011 couture runway in Paris. “He contacted me and asked me to do the show via text - as you do - and I couldn’t refuse,” she explained. “I’ve taken quite a long time out from modeling and it’s really great to be back again. Actually I was petrified before the show but Jean Paul was sweet and fed me macaroons!”

Swoon.

Nervous as she may have been, Erin immediately realized just why she loves the entire theatrical element. “Couture is also about theatre - nothing casual - and the emphasis on beauty is celebrated by making a statement about individuality. I love the performance element of it all and I hadn’t realised quite how much I’d missed it. I feel good and positive and the support from the industry just feels great!”

Macroons, text messages from Gaultier, and bespoke couture moments … such is the life of a model!
