Though the front of Bryant Park looked like a mob scene with the crowd who showed up for the Erin Wasson x RVCA show, backstage the model turned designer was calm and collected before her monumental first showing in the Tents. Maybe the fact that she had her model friends Irina Lazareanu, Lily Donaldson, Chanel Iman, and Freja Beha Erichsen around to help calm her nerves. “Erin’s always been such an inspiration for us,” said Irina before the show while twirling in her amazing $5 vintage dress that she found in Toronto. “She’s always been the big sister backstage to all of us. We are a phone call away. ‘There’s a show on Friday, get your asses there!’ She’s so great. I think it proves to girls that you can do things besides modeling.” As for her own return to the runway, the second time around is much sweeter. “I’m enjoying it a lot more than I did for the past six years. I was kind of hesitant about it, but the people that have been there for me from the beginning are still there.”
As for the show, it began with screams from the crowd as Gang Gang Dance provided not only a backdrop for the models but also a runway performance. Freja opened the show, which from the beginning was a perfect mix of Erin’s style and off-duty model looks. There were liquid leggings, cropped shirts, lacy bras peeking through sheer fabrics and cutout tops, and a stunning Victorian vampy piece that Lily closed the show in. It wouldn’t be complete without discussing Erin’s LowLuv jewelry line that she worked with Pascal Mouawad to create. Put simply, you’ll be seeing the gems on each and every model and editor for quite some time.
