Grab your camera, and hold onto your Louboutins everyone — New York Fashion Week is finally here! Last night’s 9th annual Style Awards held at Lincoln Center marked the official kickoff to the week, as fashion elite gathered to fete the artistic accomplishments— and of course, the impeccable style— of this year’s honorees. Hosted by Penske Media Corporation, Style Media, and IMG Fashion, the awards ceremony brought together A-list film and TV celebrities, models, designers, photographers, and beauty professionals, all under one stylish roof to give fashion fanatics an inside look into the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week experience!
As the sun set on those alluring white tents, the tastemakers hit the red carpet in what was essentially a headlining fashion show in itself! Top model Elettra Wiedemann was spotted with a microphone in hand, to co-host the red carpet along with Derek Blasberg. Elettra, shinned in Urban Zen black skinny pants, a floral printed Prabal Gurung top and tailored blazer, and gold House of Lavande jewelry. The charismatic model was also enlisted as one of the evening’s presenters, in charge of presenting the “Breakthrough Designer of the Year” award to Prabel Gurung. Fan favorite, Valentina, was also present with Virginia Young — Makeup Artist of the Year— in a strapless, flowing green dress, paired with a sweet chignon— the ultimate go-to hairstyle for Fashion Week!
Of course, what’s a fashion ceremony without a special appearance made by a supermodel? Iman ignited a frenzy of camera flashes as she made her way down the carpet dressed in a very on-trend violet jumpsuit and statement making gold accessories, proving her fashion icon status.
When it came to show stopping looks though, no one quite did it like Joan Smalls! The currently #1 ranked model on Models.com and this year’s “Model of the Year, nearly took our breath away in her killer, devilish red and black silk beaded top and black pants combo! If the Style Awards were any indication as to how impressive this year’s runway shows will be, than it’s safe to say that we’re in for one amazing week!
