Fashion Week kicked off with a bang last night at amfAR’s annual New York gala hosted by the quintessentially New Yorker chic, Sarah Jessica Parker honoring designer Roberto Cavalli. The event was as star studded as they come with everyone from Julianne Moore to Lindsay Lohan in attendance. But movie stars weren’t the only ones making their way down the red carpet, in fact we’d go so far as to say there were more models on the carpet than there were celebs! Cindy Crawford, Lily Donaldson, Karolina Kurkova, Anja Rubik, Joan Smalls, and a pregnant Molly Sims were a mere few of the supermodels making their way into the event last night. “It’s definitely the right way to kick off Fashion Week,” Joan Smalls remarked, later disclosing that she would be making her first appearance at NYFW on Friday (we’re going to go ahead and assume that means we’ll see her at both Jason Wu and Rag & Bone).
Erin Heatherton and Heidi Klum were also there last night to support Roberto Cavalli by wearing his designs. “Isn’t it amazing? I keep playing with it,” Erin said as she showed off her navy silk-chiffon gown. The night continued with performances by Theophilus London and Janelle Monae before guests made their way to Double 7 for the official after party hosted by Heidi Klum. At the after party, we spotted Erin Heatherton dancing all night with her publicist Ryan Michael Brown and overheard Karolina Kurkova giving modeling advice to Luisa Hartema and Sarah-Anessa Hitzcke, two contestants from Germany’s Next Top Models, who were lucky enough to win a chance to attend the party with Heidi.
If only every Fashion Week could kick off with such a glamorous event.
