Last week we prepared a shorts galore shopping guide where we selected our favorite shorts based on cut, fabric and style. We covered it all- from draw-string, slip-0n shorts to high-waisted wonders. If you’ve already found your favorite pair- ya know the ones that make your butt look perkier and your legs longer- perhaps now you’re more worried about maximizing the mileage on your new purchase. When something looks as good on you as those shorts do, it’s easy to fall back on a simple white T, and plain black ballet flats. The beauty of a silky short, is its endless styling potential. It’s no surprise that shorts have ventured into the realm dressy attire: last year Miranda stepped up her shorts game in a serious way with several memorable looks captured by the paparazzi and Karolina Kurkova killed it in Michael Kors dress shorts on the CFDA red carpet. While you may have had a shorts and heels moment before, we recommend really going for the gold and piling on those accessories. For a daytime look that’s fun (but still functional) we suggest a t-shirt with a luxe-print, like this one from Mario Testino’s capsule collection, and some embellished sandals. You’ll be living in these shorts from dusk to dawn, but with all your styling tricks, we promise: no one will know!

Chloe: Marique Schimmel, Caroline Brasch Nielsen and fresh face Elisabeth Erm posed on the sloping floor of an empty pool beautifully decorated with aquamarine mosaic tile. The clothes were roomy and relaxed from the cropped trousers to the ruffled eveningwear. With this collection, Clare Waight Keller has established “the new Chloe proportion” and we can’t get enough.

3.1 Phillip Lim: The big news here is Lim’s beloved Pashli bag now comes as a backpack! While the past few 3.1 collections seemed inspired by rebellious youth, this season it’s decidedly more grown up. Perforated and metallic leathers accented lighter than air shift dresses and sporty trousers. The result? A collection with the perfect mix of work clothes and play clothes.

Alexander Wang: In this collection Wang reduced the oversize volumes he debuted for fall with a variety of pleats. From a reinvented peplum top in white leather to a pair of borderline boot-cut pants, the silhouette story was fit-and-flare. But, the biggest surprise of all was the splash of bright bubble-gum pink amongst his usual restricted black and white color palette. He gave it the usual Wang twist of course and pink has never looked less prissy.

Stella McCartney: For a designer who doesn’t use leather or skins she does animal print pretty darn well. This time it was snake skin- embossed onto jackets and silk screened onto shift dresses in vibrant yellow. The tougher reptile-inspired outerwear was worn over lingerie-like floral printed silk slips and shorts. The flirtatious and feminine collection has us swooning.

No one can deny the do-it-all power and straight-up sex-appeal of a shredded-up jean short. From Daisy Dukes to Never-Nudes we all love our ‘jorts’! While denim duds will always be our summertime staple, they’re not exactly elevating our style-game. Lucky for us, there are so many different styles of shorts out there to choose from. Here, we’re introducing some of our favorite new styles of shorts, from drawstring to knee-length, that may just be your new standby. While it would certainly be nice to have a separate short for every occasion, many of these stunners do double-duty. Take Topshop’s white tailored culottes for example, not only are they flow-y and comfortable, they’re more than modest and are therefore perfectly suitable for work. If you’re feeling saucy, pair the high-waisted bottoms with a crop-top and some wavy locks for a sexy second date look. Weekends were made for drawstring shorts. They’re so forgiving and after just an hour in these stretch-wonders, you will understand exactly why we want to be living in these all summer long. Whether you’re heading to the office or hitting the beach these shorts will work for you!

With all due respect to Lebron James, the most satisfying part about the NBA Finals has to be the supermodel stunners and A-list starlets sitting on the sidelines. These ladies have made the courtside their own personal runway, snagging the attention of the Jumbo Tron with their array of outfits that are the perfect mix of moxie and team spirit. Don’t get us wrong, we love showing our team spirit— dressing in a jersey, sneakers and face paint— but we’ve realized that being a spectator is about much more than looking like a mascot. Just look at the supermodels who have mastered the art of sitting pretty from coast to coast.

In honor of the NBA Finals going on now between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, we caught up with Damaris Lewis whose winning sideline fashion and basketball spirit has us raving! Find out about her favorite courtside fashion looks while she cheers on the Miami Heat in our exclusive interview below:

M: What is one of your favorite courtside fashion looks?

D: When I go to Knicks games, my staple is usually a comfy jean and a killer boot. I’m not a fan of dressing up to watch basketball, but a blazer, jeans, and heels are model staples.

M: Do you like wearing your team’s jersey or colors? Or do you just go all out and not worry about it?

D: Around the playoffs I will probably wear my team’s jersey at home but I prefer to keep it neutral in the arena.

M: Do you go for heels, sneakers, or sneaker heels when you’re trying to look fashionable at a sporting event?

D: I am all about the Isabel Marant Sneaker heel ever since fellow model Jessica Gomes introduced me to them a few years ago. Dressing up for a sporting event isn’t necessary, but if I do, I like to keep it as simple as possible.

M:Do you have a favorite NBA moment or memory?

D: Yes, I do! Earlier this year I had the privilege of filming a solo two-minute opener for the NBA All Star game with Turner Sports. It was a dream come true!

Not long ago people actually looked to their wrists to check the time. No punctual person would leave home without one. Watches, in a way were the first personal computers. However, these days it seems most of us no longer need a watch, as our smartphone is generally glued to our hand. While we would be lost completely-seriously how did people function before GPS?-without our smart phones, they don’t  provide the same personal statement as the wrist watch, not to mention the fact they’re almost always out of battery. The time piece has had a renaissance as of late, with trendsetters selecting traditional men’s watches that pack the punch when it comes to accessorizing. But bigger isn’t the only option, we love the sleek simplicity and retro charm of Casio’s Mini Digital watch, and we’re betting it’s the next big thing! Ours are already in the mail. When it comes to acquiring clothes and building a wardrobe balanced between well-priced trend pieces and well-made staples, we have no problem pulling out our plastic and signing with a smile. However, we know it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings back in the other direction, and we’re overanalyzing even the most basic purchase, with a furrowed brow weighing need vs. want and often just walking away in an effort to protect our bank accounts. We usually skip the designer floor at Barney’s just to avoid getting involved in such a situation, but every now and then we peruse the over-the-top, totally impractical designer duds and imagine what kind of crazy stuff we would purchase if we had that kind of cash.

We all love a bargain, but when it comes to fashion, the word ‘sale’ takes on a whole new meaning. When Department stores and online retailers like Barney’s and Net-a-Porter offer merchandise at up to 50% off, that lime green leather jacket you had filed under “totally unattainable” or “don’t even think about it” is suddenly in your price range-well, still pricey, but definitely doable. If you’ve allowed yourself some sale-time spending, forget playing it safe; chances all the black blazers and boring bottoms have sold out, anyway. So splurge on a little piece of runway style and make a statement. When strangers approach you to compliment  your hot-pink handbag, you’ll have the satisfaction of replying, “thanks, I got it for half the price.”

When we’re not reclining by the pool this summer, we plan to be spending lots of time on our feet! From beach walks to backyard barbecues, it is an absolute requirement that we have the proper footwear for each and every event. While some of our sandals from last summer have survived, the majority of our favorite pairs are hanging by threads and must be retired. Summer shoes have a shorter shelf life and it’s important that they don’t drain our savings the way our fall boots do. However, this does not mean our warm weather shoes should not be considered with care: comfort is key. Did you really buy those delicate silver sandals to carry around in your hands? We think not, so make sure your bargain pair is blister-proof. From leopard sneakers, to gingham slippers we’ve found shoes that will fit into whatever your summer footwear budget is, so get to shopping.

It’s hard enough to coordinate what to wear out with  friends on a typical saturday night, but with summer  around the corner and pool party invitations rolling in, we have a whole new set of wardrobe anxieties to deal with.  Shedding our winter layers and stepping into basically our skivvies can sometimes leave us feeling, well, exposed. While we love the confidence our favorite Angels display while sporting next-to-nothing, we need a little more oomph in the fashion department to keep us feeling confident-i.e. that it was a good idea to share our un-bronzed gams with the rest of the party. The key to poolside style is accessorizing, and creating a ‘total look.’ With palm trees over head and bright blue water as your backdrop it’s the perfect opportunity to take risks and go for a look that on a regular day of the week might seem a little too theme-y. Recently we’ve been head over heels for Chloe Norgaard’s Rainbrow-brite style and spunk so we looked to her for inspiration when it came to creating these super-fly styles. Whether you’re wearing Dolce & Gabbana’s latest Italian inspired prints or tie-dye from head to toe, people will be admiring you from across the pool for all the right reasons. So have some fun with your look and make a splash!
