Modelinia's Field Trip to Brooklyn With Damaris Lewis and Melissa Haro

Modelinia took a little field trip to Brooklyn on Tuesday night with Melissa Haro and Damaris Lewis to taste some of the borough’s delicacies. Hidden in the Steiner Studios out in the Navy Yard was a haven of food options from a variety of Kings County restaurants—and we took full advantage of trying each and every offering.

Within seconds of arriving all attention was on Cake Man Raven, as his stunning display of desserts had Damaris and Melissa enamored and promises of wedding cakes in the future were made. We started the night with his red velvet cupcakes and ended the night the same way. When dessert’s that good, it’s impossible not to return for seconds.

Between Modelinia and the models, we all ate our way through the nations represented on the two floors, from Indian chicken tikka masala to Spanish paella to Mexican tacos—and it was all beyond tasty. And quite the perfect event for Melissa to attend, as she’s a brand-new self-described foodie. “I just fell in love with the whole cooking thing,” she explained.

The varieties of food lead to a conversation on everyone’s favorite dishes, and Melissa and Damaris began talking about trips to Paris, since Melissa will soon be in the city for work. “Do me a favor and go to a restaurant in Paris and order a hamburger,” said Damaris. That’s a brilliant piece of advice for everyone.
