After taking part in the Virgin London marathon in support of Oxfam, Agyness Deyn is already searching for ways to follow up her charitable efforts.
The model shared her story in the June 2011 issue of Vogue magazine, explaining just how she was changed by the experience. She wrote, “On our last morning, we went on a long run around the lake; when you go for a run out there, your senses are going crazy! At one point we ran past a bus station and some of the men waiting for the bus starting running with us, and when we passed through a village, the kids started running with us. All of the young people I spoke to told me how much they love going back to school. I came back to London with a thirst for learning.”
Now that the marathon and her time spent in Shinyanga, one of the poorer areas of Tanzania is over, Agyness is reflecting on what’s next. Thanks to the time she spent playing with and learning from the school children, she has a brand new appreciation for the cause - funding machines to harvest crops which then go to pay for eduction.
What exactly is next for Aggy in regards to Oxfam, she’s not quite willing to divulge just yet, but it seems the organization’s stolen her heart.
