So there are lots of documentaries about designers, from Marc Jacob to Karl Lagerfeld to Valentino, but what we’re really interested in are model documentaries.
Sara Ziff was followed by director Ole Schell for a few years to create “Picture Me”, documentary that incorporates interviews with other models such as Irina Lazareanu, Lisa Cant, and Tanya D, as well as Gilles Bensimon and Nicole Miller. The film spans the years, starting with Sara as a fresh face and shows her rise in the industry. It incorporates footage personally shot by models, which we especially love. The girls compare modeling during Fashion Month to boarding school, where they spend countless hours together and discuss the issues of the industry, like the young working age and industry turnover rate.
The film premieres on April 6th at the Gen Art Film Festival. Tickets are available here.
