From Vera to Linda, Day Three with Camilla Morton

Fashion industry insider Camilla Morton jumped right into the throes of New York Fashion Week and will be guest-blogging for Modelinia all week long.

With all the tempting invites that pop under my door, it’s very hard to decide which shows to attend, so I can’t even imagine how the models decide which shows to do… Yesterday started (early) with “Partying with Poiret,” as Vera Wang titled her show. With Vlada Roslyakova’s beaded necklace clunked with reassuring weight on her shift dress and Kate Kosushkina shimmering in a Delaunay-like sequined print, you could see how Vera’s romantic mix of drapes and day couture could be your ticket to the season.

With the Soho House library decked out with carousel horses for Mulberry, Sam McKnight was on call to crimp and backcomb hair Edward Enninful-style. Ekat Kiseleva came onto the runway walking a mascot bulldog—also Mulberry-clad—while over at Bryant Park Brian Reyes continued to charm the chic and slim of Manhattan. Jacquelyn Jablonski wore a simple sculpted shift dress that perfectly captured his understated sophistication, while Ajak and Lindsey Wixson were my favorite flirtations with color.

As much as it was about new designers and new names, yesterday was all about one woman, one face, one supermodel: Linda, the one, the only. The first time I saw her walk (at a Galliano show), I was so awed I actually fell off the window ledge I was balancing on to see. Linda Evangelista cohosted the party at MoMA for avant-garde artist Ron Arad’s latest exhibit. Nope, got to admit I missed Linda, Anouk Lepere, Josh Harnett, Bar Refaeli, Mary J. Blige, Astrid Munoz, Ron and the exhibit… (It was on the sixth floor and they didn’t mention this till it had closed.) Brits don’t tend to go too far from the bar…and fashion types are fickle, but this was too good a party to leave! ~ Camilla Morton

Sadly, Camilla didn’t find Linda, but Modelinia did! Come back tomorrow for the full report!
