It’s been confirmed that Gemma Ward will play the role of Catherine, Myrtle Wilson’s sister, in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Although a minor part in the book (Catherine only appears eight times), Gemma will star alongside an A-List cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Isla Fischer who’s playing Myrtle Wilson.
We’re particularly looking forward to seeing Gemma dressed up in 1920s attire and with Luhrmann as the director (he’s directed Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet) we can only hope for extraordinary, over-the-top costumes and set design. The film is expected to hit theaters November 2012 and we can’t wait to see some photos of Gemma on set between now and then.
