Whether pampering themselves with a rub down or training with the best, these Manhattan-based models know exactly where to book an appointment to get them looking and feeling like a million bucks.
Model: Alana Zimmer
Detox Destination: Ling Skincare and Spa, 12 E. 16th Street, 212.989.8833
Treatment: Alana likes to stop in for Ling’s signature ginseng herbal facial with aesthetician Carol Chan. The 90-minute process includes a deep pore cleansing, massage, ginseng herbal mask, three separate phases of exfoliation, a hibiscus flower peel, papaya peel, gentle rescue skin peel, and extraction (a.k.a. professional zit popping). It’s good for all skin types and recommended once every 28 days—our skin cells’ natural regeneration cycle—if you can swing the monthly tab: $185.
Model: Behati Prinsloo
Detox Destination: Home sweet home with licensed massage therapist Paige Vosper, 917.596.1313, Plvosper@gmail.com
Treatment: Behati gets a combination of all of Paige’s massage techniques—Swedish, deep tissue, structural integration, Thai, reflexology, and craniosacral therapy. “As I work, I see how the body reacts to what I’m doing, and I allow the person’s body guide me,” says Paige. An individual can book 1-hour, 1.5-hours, or 2-hour massages at $150 an hour until 9 p.m. After 9 p.m. prices increase to $200 an hour plus an extra $50 per half hour (so for an hour massage at 9:30 p.m., it’s $250; an hour massage at 10 p.m. is $300, etc.).
Models: Miranda Kerr, Bridget Hall, Coco Rocha, Suvi Koponen, Hilary Rhoda
Detox Destination: Workout with fitness expert Justin Gelband, 310.863.6705
Treament: Justin’s mantra for his model clients is “moderation, motivation, movement.” Utilizing Pilates, physical therapy, functional training, boxing, and his own specially created techniques, Justin helps sculpt his clients’ bodies into the best physical shape possible—whether on a regular basis or crunch time before a major runway show or ad campaign. Contact Justin through his website to schedule an appointment.
Model: Ines Crnokrak
Detox Destination: Great Jones Spa, 29 Great Jones Street, 212.505.3185
Treatment: “Swedish massage, everytime! I love them,” says Ines. “The people who work there are very courteous. It’s also very clean and quiet, which is perfect when you need a mini-vacation. The water spa downstairs really makes the experience great. The lotus flowers and waterfalls make for such a beautiful retreat from fast-paced New York City!” A 60-minute booking is $140, while 90 minutes runs for $190.
Models: Alyona Osmanova
Detox Destination: Whittemore House Salon, 45 Grove Street, 212.242.8880
Treatment: Alyona likes to get partial or full highlights when she visits the salon, but it usually varies since she essentially listens to whatever owner/stylist Victoria Hunter suggests every time. Prices range from $250 to $300 per visit.
Model: Hanne Gaby Odiele (also Behati Prinsloo, Alyona Osmanova, Jessica Stam, Caroline Trentini)
Detox Destination: You decide: your place or at trainer Jennifer Benesch’s private studio, 347.528.1691, firstname.lastname@example.org
Treatment: Hanne does Pilates about three times a week with Jennifer, working on strength and flexibility to create a sleek, toned body without extra bulk. “The exercises vary greatly and each session builds upon the last—as her ability improves the workout changes and grows,” says Jennifer. “It teaches body awareness, good posture, and helps to develop coordination.” Prices vary between $80 and $100, depending on where the workouts take place.
