Liu Wen opened the Richard Chai Love show yesterday in a menswear inspired silhouette composed of a crisp white blouse, charcoal colored single breasted jacket and matching tapered trousers. With simplicity, cleanliness, and “handsome femininity” as the focus, a succession of similarly androgynous and colorless pieces made their way down the runway on Lara Mullen and newcomer Melissa Stasiuk sporting a Freja Beha-esque haircut.

Alana Zimmer switched things up in a grey and purple tie dye dress that added a perfect touch of flirtation to the otherwise modest collection. Billowy palazzo pants soon followed along with Andie Arthur before everything switched back to menswear with the arrival of Jasmine Tookes on the runway. Though more colors were implemented into the collection as the show progressed, Chai’s pleasantly simple pieces remained. Maria Bradley, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Daga Ziober all walked towards the end of the show with newcomer Katlin Aas wrapping things up in a boxy red and pink speckled jacket cinched at the waist.
