The year of the supermodel continues, and Modelinia cannot get enough. Not only did countless models return to the runway for this past Fashion Week, but to our delight, this year’s Costume Institute Gala is titled “The Model as Muse” — and now, Harper’s Bazaar is joining the model craze. We already discussed how the magazine began their obsession, with Gisele Bundchen on the cover of the April 2009 issue. But this month, the entire issue is just full of amazing, iconic modeling moments. It begins with Editor-in-Chief, Glenda Bailey’s opening letter, where she discusses the theme of the issue and the gala, and that’s only the beginning—model moments just keep on coming as you flip through the magazine.
Here’s a little taste of what the issue includes:
- A retrospective of Peter Lindbergh’s work, including shots of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patz, and Milla Jovovich
- A beauty piece for every age featuring Lily Donaldson, Arlenis Sosa, Eniko Mihalik, Julia Stegner, and Abbey Lee Kershaw
- Cindy Crawford’s four-page spread on great style at all prices, shot by Peter Lindberg
- Hilary Rhoda’s eight-page spread showing off spring’s hottest looks
- Lily Donaldson’s six-page spread on street chic, shot by Peter Lindbergh
- “Models of the Moment” spread spanning 10 pages, featuring Magdalena Frackowiak, Sessilee Lopez, Heidi Mount, Liu Wen and Sigrid Agren, shot by Peter Lindbergh
With this primer, we can’t wait to see the issue of Vogue coming out for May. Already the rumor mill is running rampant, but Fashionologie’s latest hunch is that Caroline Trentini, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana, Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodianova, Anna Maria Jagodzinska and Lara Stone are all possibilities for the cover. We hear it’s all the Steven Meisel muses. Who are your guesses?
