Couture continues on, and in today’s runway report, we have a Mexican-inspired collection from Jean Paul Gaultier that mixed in a bit of the designer’s love for the new film, Avatar. The mariachi feel had braids galore and headpieces that Gaga would go gaga over, as well as weaving that we’re sure accounts for hours upon hours of handiwork. Sessilee Lopez, Karlie Kloss, Anja Rubik, Ali Stephens, and Alana Zimmer (who opened the show) strutted down the runway in the creations, which ranged from denim numbers to tribal prints to perfect suits. Sadly, despite model fan hopes, Jourdan Dunn was a no-show, as she just gave birth on December 8th.

Meanwhile, it seems that JPG wasn’t the only designer to find inspiration in the movies. Valentino’s makeup artists paired the collection from Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli with bright blue streaks across some models faces—including Hanne Gaby Odiele, Mirte Maas, and Kamila Filipcikova, calling to mind the Na’vi characters, while other girls like Siri Tollerød had their eyes decorated with simple gauze.
