Ins and Outs with Heidi

Like a ray of sunshine, Heidi Klum strode into the Tents at Lincoln Center bright and early on the first day of Fashion Week, dressed from head to toe in a coral-red custom Robert Rodriguez suit and heels to match. (Perhaps a nod to our menswear conversation last night?) The supermodel host was brimming with excitement and ready to show off the creations of her latest Project Runway designer hopefuls. “I’m eager to see what they’ve got because you never know,” she said. “I hope it’s good! The most exciting part about this season is that my designers are a very emotional bunch. They’re great designers, but they’re emotional which I like because I get to see inside their personality. It makes me feel more and different for them than I have in the past.”

Alongside Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, and guest judge, Jessica Simpson, Heidi judged a group of 10 designers, even though all but three had been eliminated. Without giving anything away, the judges took dedicated notes on each and every collection, proving relatively impossible to know whether the designer showing had already left the show. Though Heidi didn’t name names or give facial clues, she did hint that one contestant caught her attention. “I do have one designer that I’m rooting for. I don’t want to say he/she because that gives too much away!” ~ Bianca Posterli
