On the eve of the Project Runway finale, Heidi Klum welcomed friends and fashion insiders to the brand new locale, The Lambs Club, for a celebration of her newest cover of City magazine. For the 24 carat gold cover, Heidi took on a Marlene Dietrich style inspiration, from her suit to the embellished eyebrows. “She was sexy in a different way, for a lady,” said Heidi. “Marlene was very masculine in wearing a suit, but I think she started the trend. She had a very exotic look, and she was pretty happening, for the ‘30s especially.”
Never one to shy away from a good suit, Heidi felt at home in the menswear style. “I’ve worn many suits – Dolce & Gabbana, Matthew Williamson – I love suits. I think they’re very sexy, very chic. Maybe if there weren’t women like Marlene, it wouldn’t be such a cool thing to do.” While Heidi’s no stranger to the suit category of style – remember that hot pink number for Project Runway a few seasons ago? – she chose a gold sparkly Phillip Lim top and skirt for the event, accessorized with Jimmy Choo heels, shimmering alongside the gold cover.
The rest of Heidi’s Fashion Week includes her Project Runway finale and a Fashion’s Night Out appearance at Destination Maternity, but it’s back to California for a very special occasion as soon as the weekend hits. “I’m leaving on Saturday because it’s my son’s birthday. He’s having a big robot party, so I have to transform our house and make sure we have our robot outfits!” ~ Bianca Posterli
