Honoring Dries Van Noten

Already it’s a good Fashion Week for Dries Van Noten. Wednesday afternoon he was honored with an award at the FIT Couture Council Artistry of Fashion luncheon, where everyone from Iman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Glenda Bailey, Nina Garcia, and Daphne Guinness came to congratulate the designer on his success. “His fashion shows are the most artistic shows,” gushed Iman, dressed in his design, of course. “He did a book called 50, which is just loved, loved, loved. He walks to his own beat, he’s not a follower. Whether you are 20 or 70, his clothes are timeless. They are very chic. He’s just brilliant and he’s a good-looking guy!”

Held at Cipriani on 42nd Street just a few blocks from the Tents, editors and social mixed, in what was truly a back-to-school-exciting vibe. “I have so many memories of Dries,” said Glenda. “I think the one thing that I particularly love is that every time I go in his shop in Paris, it’s just such a wonderful environment. I think it says so much about him and his spirit, his eclectic mix.” Simon Doonan served as emcee for the luncheon with assistance from Iman capturing the audience with their engaging personalities, as she joked, “I’m going to pick the raffle ticket. And if I can rig it, I’ll win it!”

It’s all beginning!
