Nestled in between nightclubs and restaurants, Tommy Hilfiger decided to celebrate the launch Prep World, a Spring/Summer 2011 limited edition capsule collection, by plopping down a full white cottage in the middle of the Meatpacking District.
Along the cobblestone streets, the white collage with blue and white shades stands out, calling to mind the beach houses that line Eastern shore. Details were of the utmost importance when it came time to create the house. From faux grass lining the walkway outside to the dog house and bowl of bones set out for the family puppy, walking into Prep World was a full on experience. Once the house enjoys a moment in New York, the house is set for a full world tour, putting roots into locations in Paris, London, Stockholm, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, Sylt, Germany and Knokke, Belgium to bring prep abroad for a moment.
After shopping and toasting to Tommy’s newest capsule collection of sixty pieces, guests moved to the Standard Biergarten for Arnold Palmers and Gimlets, along with lobster rolls - the perfect combination of preppy beverages and bites.

Fresh from her ballerina moment in Tommy Hilfiger at the 2011 Costume Institute Gala, Jessica Stam showed off her summer whites and support for the designer. Dressed as if she was off to the country club for an afternoon of tennis, Jessica chatted with Modelinia about how to work that essence of prep into any wardrobe. “One of the basics of being preppy is to start with a clean, white, crisp blouse,” said Jessica, “[then you can] add pops of color or a pattern of an anchor.”
While Jessica decorated her friend’s lapel with the white flowers decorating the tables and told Modelinia about her upcoming plans to vacation in Switzerland, Chrissy Teigen tested her ping pong skills, despite the lack of paddles. All that was needed to round out the preppy night would be a few popped collars, but we’ll leave that for the country club.
