Jeremy Scott's in a New York State of Mind

© FirstView

After showing in Paris and London for the past two years, Jeremy Scott returned to New York Fashion Week to present his Fall 2010 collection entitled “Hanger Appeal.” With a large following of fashion icons like Agyness Deyn and Lady Gaga, it’s no surprise that Jeremy’s show garnered a large showing of fashion insiders like Estelle, Peaches Geldof, and Modelinia favorite Irina Lazareanu.

Everything is always a little over the top when it comes to Jeremy Scott, and this year was no exception. Inspired by fashion itself, some highlights were the ponytails on the girls that called to mind Madonna’s look from her Truth or Dare tour, not to mention a modernized version of the pop icon’s infamous bra; a batwing sweater that read “STYLE” on the front and “FASHION” on the back; and a brightly colored corseted minidress that resembled the stained-glass windows you might see in a church.

While Aggy wasn’t present for this collection’s runway, newer faces like Alla Kostromicheva, Inna Pilipenko, and Tati Cotliar were. Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman with Wella created the tightly bound and outlandishly high ponytails that added at least six inches to the models’ height. Makeup artist Val Garland and M.A.C continued this extreme look by extending eyeliner well beyond the outline of the eye and finishing with a lightly sparkled silver powder.

It’s always nice to add something a little eccentric and quirky to your wardrobe, and that is exactly what this collection has presented us with. It’s good to have you back, Jeremy.Fully expecting to see a few models at the Jeremy Scott after-party, Modelinia trekked down the stairs of the Hudson Hotel and into the brand-new nightspot, Good Units. Feeling more like an emptied-out warehouse than a New York City nightclub, partygoers clad in ensembles that made Lady Gaga look normal took over the dance floor.

Sipping on Belvedere Salty Dogs, a sweet-and-sour drink mixed with Belvedere Vodka, grapefruit juice, and margarita salt, we watched as boys and girls alike eagerly posed for street-style photographers. While we were sad that there weren’t any models in attendance (possibly upstairs with Justin Timberlake at the William Rast party?), we were pleasantly surprised to see Santigold take the stage with Amanda Blank. But after a few cocktails and a run on the dance floor, we were ready to kick off our heels and call it a night since our models were MIA. ~ Sonia Evers
