Jessica Hart Debuts Her Capsule Collection with Pencey

This past April we fell in love with the artsy video Pencey put out of Jessica Hart modeling their spring 2011 Pencey Standard collection. Shortly after we heard she would collaborate with the brand again, this time on a spring 2012 capsule collection. Jessica promised a collection of “easy to wear dresses that can be dressed up or down,” and after viewing the collection at a sneak preview earlier today it’s safe to say she wasn’t lying!

The 20-piece collection is full of assorted prints and colors as well as a range of fabrics like leopard print jersey, coral silk, floral denim, and neon lace. All of the pieces can be dressed up or down and travel well, perfect for a model on the go. “I wanted pieces that I could throw into a suitcase and they look the same when I pull them out, that was really important to me because I travel so much,” Jessica said. Her designs were inspired by the pajama-dressing trend, the 70’s, and her own eclectic style. She knew she wanted bright colors and comfortable fabrics and was really involved in choosing the perfect textures and prints.

Jessica also considered wearability in every aspect of her designs; when choosing the perfect color of orange, she decided on a universally flattering orange-coral in a silk that doesn’t wrinkle. She was especially excited about the “Strings Tank,” offered in assorted prints and colors, cut wide to prevent side-boob action. “I hate to have bra straps ruin the look of a tank, so we tested this a lot to make sure there was no slippage… Ever.”

We’re seriously coveting every item in the collection, and cannot wait for the release! We have an inkling her capsule collection will sell fast, but be sure to expect more from this model-turned-designer in the future! —Nikita Swatkowski
