How does one get ready for their very first Oscar experience? Julie Henderson brought her diary and took copious notes for us, documenting the day so we could almost feel like we were there too!
“Hi Modelinia! Getting ready for my first Oscar Night was quite a journey but thought I’d take you along for the ride:
Let’s start from the beginning: I was on a job in Samana, Dominican Republic when I found out … if you’ve never been there, you know it’s not the easiest place to get to, shooting swimsuits on the beautiful beaches…
6:30am Saturday morning was when my journey began. I had a 3-hour flight to Santa Domingo where I had to stay overnight, so I knew that I would only have a short amount of time to pull together a red carpet look — especially one for OSCAR NIGHT! I remained calm, hoping that all would be put together for my arrival in Los Angeles … so the travel gets better.
7:30am, Sunday morning, I had to hop on a flight to Miami to finally get on a nonstop-flight to LA …
11:20am I leave Miami and land at LAX …
2:20pm Did I mention I had the Elton John Dinner at 4:00PM? The car got me to Beverly Hills at 3:30pm … Needless to say, I was very thankful to find a full array of designers to choose from: Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, Vintage Thierry Mugler, and the list goes on and on. But, you all know that how a dress fits is the most important thing. The final decision was a Zac Posen dress, Lorraine Schwartz diamonds and Brian Atwood shoes.
3:45pm and was beyond time for hair and makeup! It was like the shows again. With only moments to go, I was out the door at 4:45pm. For all you keeping time, that’s just 1 hour and 15 minutes to choose a dress, jewelry, shoes and do hair and makeup. I think we ended up doing a great job though!
