Hey Models of the Runway fans! It’s Kalyn to give you the lowdown on this week’s episode!
What a fun week for the models and designers…not to mention the viewers! Tim Gunn visited the designers’ homes to see how the collections were coming along and spent some time with their families. The models’ families came to NYC to be a part of the excitement, too. It was really meaningful to be able to share one of the most exciting weeks of my life with my parents and boyfriend. It’s always fun to see where someone came from and get a little more insight into their history, and viewers got a sneak peek into our lives outside of the runway this week!
It had been almost three months since we had left Los Angeles, and the designers had created a whole 12-piece collection in that time. Tim and Heidi surprised Irina, Althea, and Carol Hannah in this episode, though, and told them they had to come up with a 13th look in just days! In the meantime, Tanisha, Lisa, and I were responsible for casting the 13th model, and the designers had specific looks in mind that they wanted us to fulfill.
It was really fun to be on the casting side of the table, and it was much more difficult to find that ideal model than we anticipated. Carol Hannah told Lisa to find a “wispy” model, and her first choice was double-booked, so she had to go with another girl she wasn’t quite sure was up to Carol Hannah’s expectations. Tanisha found her “ethnic model double” in no time, and I found a gorgeous redhead that I knew Irina would love. In the end, the designers were happy with our choices, so we walked away knowing it was a job well done!
Next week the winning designer and model will be chosen, and Season 6 will come to a close. You can’t miss the fabulous runway show, or the final results that the whole country is waiting for!
