Hey, it’s Kalyn here with thoughts on Episode 7!

This week’s team challenge was to design two blue pieces, and the winning look would be sold in Macy’s. Irina, who was paired with Gordana, won the challenge with her gorgeous flowing blue dress, so Katie was the winning model. She actually got to shoot in the holiday dress that Irina designed, which should be available in select stores very soon.

Michael Kors was back and had some pretty harsh critiques for the designers in the bottom half. By the end of the judging session, Christopher was in tears and Louise looked like she might fall apart at the seams, in stark contrast to her earlier “chirping” episodes. Kojii was worried when Louise was eliminated, but in the end, Vanessa was the last model left standing on the runway, which was a total shock to her. She thought she was safe and sound, but I guess none of us can ever be too sure of our safety! With Vanessa gone, the Dream Team is now down to only three members: Tanisha, Lisa, and Ebony.

A surprise this week was a visit by runway coach Michael Maddox, who came in to help us brush up on our walking skills. He had some good tips, but his condescending nature and refusal to call any of us by our names, instead referring to each of us as “Pumpkin Pie,” aggravated some of the models. His first instruction was to try a half-turn, and he made each of us do it, then told each one of us that we were wrong. Matar would not stand for it and asked why she should try to do something when she knew he would just tell her it was the incorrect way. Needless to say, there was some tense butting of heads in the runway coaching session! As I remarked on the show, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at pumpkin pie the same way again!

There is more excitement, drama, tears, and fun to come. It’s a very heartwarming challenge for the models next week. Don’t miss it!

XO,

Kalyn
